Behind the strip

A simple neighbourly act becomes a study in two kinds of community. On one side, help spreads casually from balcony to pavement. On the other, the same bowl meets policies, approvals and a boom barrier that seems designed for an international border. The gated society is not the villain; the joke lives in how quickly organised care can become organised process. The dog, naturally, has the final opinion.
